What are the long-term consumption of chlorinated or tap water? What is the best alternative?

After reading about 12 brands of bottled water found to contain lead fertilizers, acetaminophen, and radioactive elements among other things, I'm not drinking it anymore. It seems that the plastic leeches chemicals into the water. So I'm stuck with a dilemma of potable tap water, buying glass bottles or filter tap. How harmful are chemicals used to treat tap water in the city, especially chlorine? Are there any carcinogen? water Buying bottled glass is not an option for me, so that the effectiveness of filters and faucet-mounted Pur and Brita? Thanks for your responses.

More people health conscious will not drink the treated water from the municipal town. Chlorine, fluoride, alum, and several other toxic chemicals often water at much higher levels than necessary. Test result my own water and have found chlorine levels as high as a pool requires. The idea is more is better, if they high bacteria counts in water jeprodizes grant applications, so the mentality is "more chlorine is better." A filtration system Coal is clean all the toxins from your city water. That is the way forward. If you are real picky can install a reverse osmosis system and make your water even better. Britta filter I tried was useless. Pura makes some that work, but I would recommend a step up from a faucet-mounted model. A facility under sink, it would be more likely to make you happy. I use a Cuno Reverse Osmosis and is fabulous.
