How often do you change the water filter in the fridge?
My husband and I have had our fridge for about 4 years and have never changed water filter, because I honestly never thought of that! I am getting a new water filter today because I am pregnant and have been thinking about everything and realized time the filter has been there. It is a smart water filter GE and they told me today that should be changed every six months! Eek, we have not changed in four years! Could it be harmful? When I took it off, looked clean … thanks! Just wanted to add that women in GE said that the water will start slowing down when you are ready to be changed and ours has never slowed down!
I have the GE profile side by side with icemaker and water through the filter door and back. My instruction manual says to change the filter every six months. That said, I forgot to do it and the water continued to flow from one time to the ice maker and water dispenser. Once stopped, I called the warranty repair and the technician told me that is not harmful, which is essentially just a regular, unfiltered tap water through Suppliers. The problem occurred for us, because the tap water here is very hard and eventually mineral deposits clogged the line that left the water reaches to the ice / water dispenser, blew the line off where it enters the bar and created a huge mess of water, while the bar thought it needed to provide water suppliers.
