Hello. The other day I found No Impact Man’s blog which was greatly inspiring. But. . . it left me thinking “But where do I start? How did YOU start?”
Does anyone have some suggestions as to where you begin changing you life to no trash and no negative impact? I know it will be difficult (like giving up the car. I want too, but I’m not there yet) but I’m always looking out for those simple changes one can make to their life.
Thus far I’ll put my two bits in. I save all plastic bottles, two liters and 1 gallons, mostly for drip irigation. I’ve switched to plastic washable containers to pack lunch in so no more throw away sandwich baggies or zip lock bags. I’ve put most of my electronics on power strips or switched outlets AND even more important to me have inspired my wife to take part in all this. I’m sure I’m doing more (I hope) but thats all that comes to mind. Thanks!

Use your own shopping bags for groceries, produce and store purchases. I will post a link below where you can find them. So much plastic and paper is consumed by shopping bags, it’s an easy and great way to help our environment. There are more sites available, go to “Google” and type in “environmentally safe shopping bags” etc.

nice work so far! some more things you can do: try eliminating some meats from your diet. the meat industry is a HUGE polluter, and each vegetarian saves the earth about 1. 5 million tons of carbon dioxide each year. Use reusable bags when you shop, and switch your lightbulbs to compact flouresent lightbulbs.
